Security Engineer – Operations & Governance

About the role

Meitner Energy is building a private AI platform that handles export‑controlled nuclear technology and sensitive engineering data. This position owns the security and compliance posture of that platform, implementing and evidencing controls while also supporting corporate IT security.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain SSO, MFA, role‑based and attribute‑based access controls, and document‑level permissions aligned with data‑sensitivity and export‑control tiers.
• Deploy data‑loss prevention, immutable audit logging, secrets management, and manage vulnerability scanning, triage, remediation tracking and reporting for platform components.
• Conduct prompt‑injection testing, develop AI‑specific incident response playbooks, and handle model misuse or data‑exfiltration scenarios.
• Own export‑control enforcement, build control‑mapping and evidence libraries, and produce audit‑ready artifacts for regulators.
• Coordinate corporate security standards with the Director of Global IT and manage relationships with external security monitoring partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years in security engineering, security operations or combined security‑governance roles.
• Hands‑on experience configuring SSO, MFA, RBAC/ABAC, privileged access and secrets management in production.
• Knowledge of federal information‑protection frameworks and export‑control requirements, with proven audit evidence creation.
• Experience with SIEM or managed detection tools and external monitoring relationships.
