SAP ERP Material Planning Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a SAP ERP Material Planning Specialist to ensure parts availability for locomotive maintenance across our business segments. You will work closely with project managers, material managers and engineering teams to develop and execute efficient material planning strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Identify unreleased, obsolete, or updated parts and assess impact on maintenance schedules.
• Develop mitigation plans and a low‑risk materials planning strategy for assigned segments.
• Oversee the end‑to‑end MRP process in SAP ERP, ensuring plan execution and material availability.
• Collaborate with engineering, MRP controllers, order management, material managers and procurement to resolve gaps and shortages.
• Track performance metrics, generate reports, charts and presentations to promote transparency.
• Lead process‑improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and inventory turnover.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in supply chain or materials planning.
• Proven experience with SAP ERP Material Planning module.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Experience in an engineer‑to‑order manufacturing environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
