Revenue Accountant Specialist

About the role

We're looking for a detail‑oriented and proactive Project Revenue Accountant to join our growing finance team. In this key role, you'll ensure accurate financial reporting related to project revenue, manage invoicing and deferred revenue, and play a critical part in our month‑end close process.

Key responsibilities

• Apply appropriate revenue recognition methods (e.g., percentage of completion) in compliance with ASC 606 and company policies.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and project managers to validate revenue data and align project milestones with revenue events.
• Maintain and reconcile the deferred revenue schedule, ensuring proper allocation and recognition over time.
• Prepare and issue accurate customer invoices based on project milestones or time & materials, and monitor accounts receivable aging.
• Record and allocate project‑related expenses, monitor budget vs. actual performance, and prepare project‑specific financial reports.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and audit documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a professional‑services or project‑based environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, especially ASC 606 revenue recognition principles.
• Ability to read and interpret project documentation such as SOWs, Change Orders, POs, and LOEs.
• Proven experience managing the end‑to‑end revenue cycle, including invoicing and collections.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (NetSuite, Acumatica, QuickBooks or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial analysis).
• Familiarity with CRM and billing platforms (Salesforce, Zuora, Ruddr PSA).
• Knowledge of ASC 606 percentage‑of‑completion and deferred revenue methodologies.
