Resident Coordinator (Argentina)

About the role

The Resident Coordinator (RC) is the highest‑ranking United Nations representative in Argentina, responsible for leading the UN Country Team and ensuring coordinated support for the country’s sustainable development agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the United Nations at the highest levels of government and engage with civil society, academia, private sector and development partners.
• Lead the development, monitoring and reporting of the UN Cooperation Framework in close consultation with the Argentine government.
• Coordinate system‑wide UN support to the government, fostering preventive and strategic assistance.
• Ensure accountability for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals.
• Report annually to the host government and directly to the UN Secretary‑General on framework implementation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in international development, public policy or related fields.
• Proven leadership of multi‑agency teams in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Strong understanding of the UN development system, Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda.
• Excellent diplomatic and communication skills for high‑level advocacy.

• Knowledge of UN coordination mechanisms and frameworks.
• Experience with matrixed reporting structures.
• Ability to develop and manage strategic development frameworks.
