Project Manager – Ubuntu Embedded Systems

About the role

Canonical is seeking a Project Manager to lead large‑scale, customer‑facing projects that deliver Ubuntu images to a wide range of embedded devices, from robots and edge gateways to automotive systems. The role is fully remote and serves both the Americas and EMEA regions, acting as the primary liaison between Canonical’s engineering teams and its customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage projects through the complete lifecycle, ensuring alignment with client and Canonical goals.
• Deliver engineering professional services, coordinating custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery.
• Develop and maintain project statements of work, schedules, and detailed plans.
• Obtain client agreement on timelines and scope, and monitor delivery against time, resource, and budget constraints.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, driving technical issues to successful outcomes.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, internal stakeholders, and third‑party vendors.
• Report status updates to senior management and advocate Canonical technologies.
• Support multiple time zones and work non‑traditional hours as required.

Required profile

• Proven project management experience delivering engineering services to customers.
• Experience managing software development teams and field engineers.
• Strong track record of handling complex, multi‑disciplinary technical projects.
