Project Manager - Satellite Gateway Infrastructure

About the role

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Project Manager to lead the development of satellite gateway ground infrastructure across the Americas. The position oversees the full site‑acquisition lifecycle, from early evaluation through contract award, construction, and handover to internal delivery teams, requiring frequent travel and on‑site inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and acquire gateway sites, conducting technical, operational, regulatory, and infrastructure surveys.
• Lead commercial and technical negotiations with hosting partners, landowners, and infrastructure vendors.
• Manage regional RFP processes, develop requirements, coordinate bidders, evaluate proposals, and support contract negotiations.
• Conduct vendor due diligence, qualify, shortlist, and select hosting and infrastructure partners.
• Handle zoning, planning, environmental, construction, and permitting activities with municipalities, regulators, and utilities.
• Oversee infrastructure implementation from contract award to completion and handover.
• Coordinate schedules, milestones, budgets, dependencies, risks, and deliverables across multiple sites and vendors.
• Monitor vendor performance, ensure compliance with contractual, technical, quality, safety, and schedule requirements through site inspections.
• Identify risks early and develop mitigation and recovery plans.
• Provide regular project reporting and maintain organized documentation, including permits and handover packages.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (advanced degree or licensure preferred).
• 5–8 years of project‑management experience in infrastructure or industrial facilities.
• Proven experience in telecommunications, satellite communications, or related infrastructure development.
• Strong ability to manage multi‑stakeholder projects, negotiate contracts, and navigate regulatory environments.
