Principal Machine Learning Engineer – Applied AI & LLMs

About the role

Doctolib is looking for a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to join its Data Science & AI organization. This transversal role works across multiple AI teams (Clinical, Productivity, Phone Assistant, ASR) to define how product and AI teams build agentic solutions, standardise evaluation frameworks and spread strong engineering practices.

Key responsibilities

• Own cross‑team ML architecture decisions, from model selection to production deployment patterns and build‑vs‑buy choices.
• Define and drive adoption of rigorous evaluation frameworks for model and agentic performance across all AI teams.
• Establish shared production infrastructure patterns, including model and prompt versioning, guardrails, uncertainty quantification, cost optimisation and observability.
• Lead technical design of agentic solutions and guide product teams on leveraging AI capabilities.
• Elevate technical standards through architecture reviews, technical guidance and practice propagation.
• Partner with Product, Legal and Compliance to ensure safe roll‑out and compliance with EU regulations (GDPR, MDR, AI Act).

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in ML/AI, with at least 3 years at Staff+ or Principal level leading complex, multi‑team initiatives.
• Deep expertise in at least two of: clinical NLP, LLM fine‑tuning and evaluation, automatic speech recognition, retrieval‑augmented generation, reinforcement learning.
• PhD in Computer Science, AI, Statistics or equivalent research experience.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to align diverse stakeholders.
