Plumbing Design Engineer

About the role

Utopia is seeking an experienced Plumbing Design Engineer to lead the design of plumbing and drainage systems for luxury villas and boutique hotels worldwide. Reporting to the MEP Design Manager, you will work remotely and collaborate daily with architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and client representatives to deliver technically precise and aesthetically integrated solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design plumbing, drainage, supply, and distribution systems ensuring compliance with local building codes and international standards.
• Lead spatial coordination with architectural and structural models, resolving clashes from concept through technical completion.
• Develop detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using CAD and BIM tools, directing BIM modelers for accuracy.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate systems without compromising spatial or aesthetic quality.
• Perform load calculations and system sizing to guarantee optimal performance under all project conditions.
• Oversee equipment selection aligned with project requirements, sustainability targets, and luxury standards.
• Review and approve deliverables from third‑party designers, consultants, and surveyors, maintaining design integrity.
• Contribute to value‑engineering discussions, balancing cost, quality, and performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in plumbing design for high‑end residential or hospitality projects.
• Strong knowledge of local building codes and international standards.
• Ability to work remotely and coordinate with global multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent analytical skills for load calculations and system sizing.
