Oracle Database Consultant

About the role

Pythian is seeking an Oracle Database Consultant to join its Oracle team. You will provide end‑to‑end support for database and application infrastructure across a range of client environments, helping customers achieve high availability, performance, and data integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and administer Oracle database solutions, including server configuration and ongoing maintenance.
• Analyze client infrastructure, recommend best practices, and improve operational procedures to maximise uptime and recoverability.
• Manage backup strategies, disaster‑recovery plans, and proactive monitoring to prevent and resolve issues.
• Oversee data integrity tasks such as clustering, mirroring, replication, failover, and restoration of corrupted databases.
• Develop and maintain action plans for maintenance, deployment, and upgrades, ensuring thorough documentation.
• Create and sustain complex data architectures, including normalized and dimensional models, DDL generation, and data transformation processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Oracle database management and technical support.
• Strong analytical skills to assess client environments and recommend improvements.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented setting to solve complex technical challenges.
