Nurse Consultant – Acute & Home Care

About the role

As a Nurse Consultant I in the Acute and Home Care Licensure and Certification Section of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, you will conduct licensure and certification surveys for home care, home health, and hospice agencies to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform on‑site standard and complaint surveys to verify compliance with applicable State Licensure and Federal Regulations.
• Prepare deficiency reports based on observations, record reviews, and interviews conducted during surveys.
• Review and evaluate Plans of Correction submitted by providers in response to cited deficiencies.
• Provide clarification and information to the public, providers, and prospective providers regarding licensure and certification processes.
• Intake and investigate complaints and concerns from the public.
• Respond to written information requests from the public, providers, and other agencies.
• Engage with health‑care associations, civic clubs, and professional organizations to discuss licensure, certification, and inspection goals.

Required profile

• Active Registered Nurse license in the State of North Carolina.
• At least one year of experience in home care, home health, or hospice nursing.
• Experience reviewing documentation and conducting compliance surveys.
• Proficiency with computer applications and Microsoft Office suite.
