Mechanical Services Specialist

About the role

The Mechanical Services Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, installing, and repairing mechanical systems and components within a thermal power plant. This role supports both planned and unplanned maintenance activities across a wide range of equipment covered by the O&M contract.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical failures of pumps, compressors, valves, and piping and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Test, repair, or replace defective components, including electric motor bearings.
• Align and adjust equipment according to specifications and maintain accurate work orders.
• Prepare and submit purchasing requisitions using the MAXIMO system.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance following technical manuals and P&ID drawings.
• Collaborate with external contractors on investment projects and ensure compliance with plant safety procedures.

Required profile

• Recognised technical qualification in mechanical engineering.
• Minimum three years of industrial mechanical experience, preferably in a combined cycle power plant (CCPP) environment.
• Ability to work unsupervised on mechanical tasks at the power station.
• Good organisational skills, goal‑oriented and able to handle criticism and conflicts.

Required skills

• Mechanical diagnostics and troubleshooting.
• Repair and maintenance of turbines, generators, compressors, pumps, and valves.
• Use of machine tools such as lathes for small part fabrication.
• Proficiency with MAXIMO maintenance management software.
• Understanding of Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) systems.
• Reading and interpreting technical manuals and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
