Mechanical Services Specialist

About the role

The Mechanical Services Specialist is responsible for diagnosing, installing, and repairing mechanical systems and components on a thermal power plant under an O&M contract. The role involves both planned and unplanned interventions on a wide range of equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical failures of pumps, compressors, valves, and piping and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Test, repair, or replace defective components, including electric motor bearings and valves.
• Align and adjust equipment according to specifications and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations, and tests; prepare legible work orders.
• Identify required spare parts, submit purchasing requisitions in the MAXIMO system, and read technical manuals and P&ID drawings.
• Collaborate with external contractors on investment projects and ensure compliance with plant safety procedures.

Required profile

• Recognised technical qualification in mechanical engineering or related field.
• At least three years of mechanical experience in an industrial environment, preferably a combined cycle power plant.
• Ability to work unsupervised on mechanical tasks at the power station.
• International experience and strong organisational skills.
• Trustworthy, reliable, and able to handle criticism and conflicts.

Required skills

• Mechanical systems diagnosis, installation, and repair.
• Knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, diesel engines, generators, HRSG, air compressors, motors, pumps, piping, and valves.
• Proficiency with mechanical tools, equipment, and machine tools such as lathes.
• Experience using the MAXIMO maintenance management system.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, P&ID diagrams, and PTW (Permit to Work) systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance procedures.
