Head of Exchange Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a senior product leader to own the vision and roadmap for Kraken's exchange layer, including the matching engine, core infrastructure, third‑party custody, algo engine and API engine. You will lead a small team of product managers and work closely with engineering, risk and compliance to consolidate multiple engines into a unified platform.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the product vision and roadmap for the exchange stack.
• Lead and grow a team of four to five product managers, setting high standards for product craft.
• Consolidate multiple matching engines into a single engine, starting with US derivatives.
• Build an interface‑agnostic platform that serves all product teams and interfaces.
• Define success metrics such as p99 latency, throughput, uptime and resiliency and hold teams accountable.
• Partner with engineering, risk, credit and compliance to sequence migrations without market disruption.

Required profile

• Senior product leader with experience in exchange, trading or high‑performance platforms.
• Proven ability to manage and develop product managers who can operate independently.
• Player‑coach mindset, comfortable owning roadmaps and writing specs.
• Strong communication skills to influence both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Passion for crypto markets and market structure.

Required skills

• Deep understanding of matching engine architecture and market data systems.
• Experience with low‑latency, high‑throughput platform design.
• Background in building platforms for internal customers.
