Head of Accounting

About the role

MAVIMAVI is seeking an experienced Head of Accounting to own the end‑to‑end accounting function for US‑based companies. This hands‑on leadership position blends strategic oversight with detailed execution, ensuring accurate, compliant, and decision‑ready financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full accounting function including general ledger, AP, AR, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close calendars, reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Define and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and close procedures in line with US GAAP.
• Lead audit relationships, coordinate audit readiness, and manage external auditors.
• Oversee multi‑entity accounting, consolidations, intercompany transactions, and ERP implementations or migrations.
• Develop SOPs, accounting policies, and reporting standards while mentoring and scaling the accounting team.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior leadership roles such as Head of Accounting, Controller, or Accounting Director.
• Strong end‑to‑end knowledge of accounting operations, financial reporting, and US GAAP.
• Proven track record of owning month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close and managing audits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English with the ability to convey complex accounting matters.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Experience with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Oracle, SAP, or similar ERPs.
