Functional Safety Engineer – Hardware

About the role

We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer – Hardware to join our design organization and drive the functional safety lifecycle for automotive semiconductor products. You will work closely with system architects, design teams and global safety groups to ensure our hardware and software meet ISO 26262 and other automotive safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse top‑level safety requirements and translate them into technical safety concepts and requirements.
• Collaborate with system architects to refine system architecture and define detailed safety mechanisms.
• Derive hardware and software safety requirements from technical safety specifications.
• Create safety analysis work products such as System FMEA, FTA, FMEDA, DFA, etc.
• Monitor safety verification and validation activities and support customer safety reviews.
• Work with the Functional Safety Manager, global FuSa teams and external contractors as needed.
• Provide impact analysis for design changes to maintain functional safety compliance.
• Support internal and external safety assessment reviews.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in the semiconductor industry (design, test or quality) or a strong early‑career candidate.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, Applied Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
• Solid understanding of ISO 26262 and automotive engineering principles.
• Experience creating safety documentation (Safety Concepts, FMEA, FMEDA, DFA, FTA).
• Strong manufacturing, quality engineering and data analysis skills.
