Financial Accountant – Compliance & Controls

About the role

Join Johnson Matthey as a Financial Accountant focused on compliance and controls. You will be responsible for statutory financial reporting and ensuring robust financial controls at the plant level.

Key responsibilities

• Own statutory and legal financial reporting, including preparation and sign‑off of statutory accounts and financial packs.
• Deliver accurate P&L and balance sheet reporting in partnership with Plant Management Accountants.
• Lead monthly balance sheet and P&L reviews, ensuring IFRS and internal policy compliance.
• Manage external audit and statutory close processes as the primary contact for auditors.
• Design, implement and monitor plant‑level financial controls, identifying risks and driving remediation.
• Partner with Sector Finance on tax, treasury, accounting policy and ad‑hoc improvement projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading financial controls, compliance and risk management activities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across finance and non‑finance teams.
• Strong communication skills in written and spoken English.
• Structured, delivery‑focused approach with ability to manage multiple priorities under time pressure.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS and experience applying standards in a complex organization.
• Technical accounting expertise, preferably with a professional qualification (ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience with statutory reporting, audit coordination and financial control design.
