Executive Housekeeper

About the role

The Executive Housekeeper is a senior member of the shipboard management team, responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations and ensuring that guest areas meet Royal Caribbean International’s brand standards. This role reports directly to the Hotel Director and plays a key part in delivering a high‑quality guest experience at sea.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation standards across guest staterooms, balconies, corridors, officer cabins, laundry, lockers and storage areas.
• Lead, motivate and coach a diverse housekeeping team, handling guest feedback and requests efficiently.
• Develop and deliver classroom‑style and on‑the‑job training programs for staff development and succession planning.
• Coordinate the Housekeeping division schedule with shoreside support and monitor staffing needs.
• Oversee laundry operations, ensuring the Laundry Master has the resources and training needed for flawless service.
• Manage yearly budgets for housekeeping and laundry, controlling consumables, replaceable items and revenue streams such as laundry, floral cart and tuxedo programs.
• Drive performance against guest satisfaction scores, quality reviews, employee satisfaction, health inspections and operational audits.
• Stay informed about ship events and special functions to provide accurate information to guests and staff.
• Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are maintained and that staff are trained in proper usage.
• Facilitate departmental meetings, handover notes and communication to avoid process gaps.

• Proven leadership experience in a large‑scale housekeeping environment.
• Strong coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Excellent organizational and scheduling skills.
• Budget management experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other hotel division heads.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and public health inspection requirements.
