Director of Construction for Major Mining Projects

About the role

Worley is seeking a senior leader to direct the planning, execution and control of large‑scale construction projects in the mining sector. The role ensures safe delivery, adherence to schedule, budget and quality standards while driving productivity, constructability and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate constructability into detailed engineering, identify execution risks and optimise construction sequences.
• Define comprehensive execution strategies, construction methodologies and digital workflows (4D BIM, AWP, digital twins).
• Lead on‑site construction across civil, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation disciplines, enforcing HSEC standards and a zero‑incident culture.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams of over 1,000 personnel, fostering safety, discipline and high performance.
• Control budgets exceeding USD 500 million, monitor KPIs for progress, productivity and cost, and apply corrective actions.
• Serve as primary liaison with clients, EPC/EPCM contractors, regulators, communities and labor unions.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of EPC/EPCM experience in mining, energy or oil & gas.
• Proven leadership on projects with CAPEX of USD 1 billion or more, covering all phases from detailed engineering to commissioning.
• Fluent Spanish language skills.
• Strategic and operational leadership, strong safety and HSEC management, and ability to embed constructability early and execute it on‑site.
