Digital Project Engineer – Process Industries (LATAM)

About the role

ABB is looking for Digital Project Engineers to join its Talent Community for Process Industries across Latin America. You will help customers in mining, pulp & paper, and metals transform their operations through advanced digital solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or support the engineering and execution of digital solution projects, including DCS, SCADA/HMI, Advanced Process Control (APC), Asset Performance Management (APM) and Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) systems.
• Act as a technical reference throughout the project lifecycle: scope definition, engineering, commissioning and hand‑over.
• Collaborate with sales, service and product teams to design tailored digital solutions that meet customer needs.
• Ensure project deliverables are on time, within budget and comply with ABB’s quality and safety standards.
• Interface directly with customers to translate operational challenges into digital solutions.
• Identify technical optimisation opportunities and contribute to continuous‑improvement and lessons‑learned processes.
• Support integration of IT/OT environments using the ABB Ability platform and industrial IoT concepts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Control, Chemical, Mechatronics or a related engineering field.
• Proven experience in project engineering within industrial automation or digital‑solution environments.
• Solid knowledge of at least one DCS (e.g., ABB System 800xA, Symphony Plus) or equivalent SCADA/HMI platform.
• Experience working directly with customers in process industries such as mining, pulp & paper or metals.
• Fluent English; Spanish is a plus for LATAM‑wide roles.
• Willingness to travel regionally across Latin America as required.
