CTO / Technical Architect – Lead AI‑Native Greenfield Build

About the role

Open English is looking for a hands‑on CTO / Technical Architect to design and build a brand‑new, AI‑native learning platform that will replace its legacy systems. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will define the technical vision, create the architecture, and assemble a high‑performance engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the greenfield platform architecture that unifies Open English Adult, Junior, and Mundo.
• Select the technology stack, architecture patterns, and roadmap to ensure scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Design and develop core services such as APIs, authentication, API gateways, shared services, integration layers, and micro‑services.
• Establish AI‑native engineering practices, including AI‑assisted development, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Create reliable integration frameworks with CRM, ERP, billing, payments, and accounting systems (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite, Zuora, Yuno).
• Hire, mentor, and lead a small senior engineering team with high autonomy.
• Partner with executive leadership to translate business goals into technical strategy and investment plans.

• Senior‑level technical leader who can act as both builder and architect.
• Think like a technical founder and stay actively involved in hands‑on development.
• Ability to challenge assumptions, translate business objectives into technical strategy, and drive rapid delivery without sacrificing quality.
• Experience leading high‑autonomy engineering teams in fast‑moving environments.
