Construction Superintendent – Mining Projects

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Superintendent to lead on‑site activities for a critical minerals mining project at Escondida. The role oversees craft professionals, subcontractors, and demolition teams, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and direct craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and subcontractors.
• Develop and manage work schedules, reviewing daily progress against plans.
• Determine workforce requirements and coordinate operational plans for the assigned area.
• Oversee tool, equipment, and material requisitions to keep crews productive.
• Ensure the latest design documents are used and that any design changes receive proper approval before implementation.
• Monitor compliance with project specifications, safety rules, and budget constraints.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading construction teams on large‑scale mining or infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, demolition work, and logistics management.
• Ability to coordinate multiple trades and subcontractors while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of construction scheduling and workforce planning.
• Familiarity with field material requisition processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering design documents.
