Chief of Staff to the CEO

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Chief of Staff to support the CEO of Derek Ling Consulting, a career‑coaching and talent‑management firm serving senior go‑to‑market leaders at S&P 500 companies. Working remotely on US Pacific business hours, you will partner with the CEO to design and implement the systems, workflows and infrastructure that enable the practice to scale.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑create and document SOPs, tools and internal processes across client operations, CRM, marketing and communications.
• Develop and refine AI‑driven workflows using Claude, turning client conversations into actionable insights.
• Own end‑to‑end client operation tasks: pre‑work preparation, workshop logistics, post‑session recaps, contracts and addendums.
• Manage the CEO’s inbox and calendar, triage emails and protect executive time.
• Collaborate regularly with VPs and C‑suite leaders to gather requirements and ensure seamless delivery.

Required profile

• Experience in fast‑moving, small‑team environments (e.g., early‑stage startup, first/second hire, or fractional operator).
• Proven track record of building processes from scratch, with tangible artifacts to demonstrate.
• Curiosity about AI tools, especially Claude, and willingness to be coached on workflow integration.
• Strong collaboration and customer‑discovery abilities, able to extract information and translate it into functional systems.
• Passion for people development and a direct communication style.
