Backend SaaS Software Developer – Python & Linux

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Backend SaaS Software Developer to join the Landscape team, the management tool for Ubuntu fleets. You will work remotely within the Americas region, collaborating with a globally distributed team to build, monitor, and secure large‑scale Ubuntu deployments on‑premise and in public clouds.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with a distributed development team.
• Write high‑quality Python code to add new features, fix bugs, and modernize the Landscape codebase.
• Ensure code quality through automated testing and participate in code and architectural reviews.
• Take ownership of problems, design solutions, and deliver them end‑to‑end.
• Assist with release management during each development cycle.
• Work with DevOps to operate the Landscape SaaS platform.
• Travel 2–4 weeks per year for internal and external events.

Required profile

• Passion for technology, open‑source software, and working with brilliant colleagues.
• Curious, flexible, articulate, accountable, and self‑motivated.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, STEM, or equivalent.
• Experience developing public‑facing APIs and web applications, preferably in Python.
• Comfortable using Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
