Backend Engineer – Payments Team

About the role

The Senior Backend Engineer will design, build and maintain payment and financial infrastructure for SQUIRE’s platform. Working within the Payments Team, you will develop reliable payment processing flows, reconciliation and ledger systems, and ensure seamless integration with the broader product.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain high‑quality payment features and financial infrastructure using Node.js.
• Design, implement and maintain payment processing flows, reconciliation processes, and double‑entry bookkeeping ledgers.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate payment systems across the platform.
• Participate in code reviews, troubleshoot defects, and contribute to hiring panels and technology policies.

Required profile

• At least 7 years of experience developing applications with Node.js.
• Proven experience in payments or fintech, including production payment processing systems.
• Strong understanding of the payment lifecycle (authorization, capture, refund, void, chargebacks) and reconciliation with external providers.
• Based in Buenos Aires and available to work on‑site two days per week.
