AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator – L2

About the role

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 (iSeries) System Administrator at Level 2 to join our 24 × 7 enterprise IT team. The role will be the primary escalation point for iSeries environments, ensuring stability, availability and performance of critical business systems.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve escalated incidents that cannot be handled by L1 teams.
• Monitor, analyze and optimise system performance, performing proactive health checks.
• Create, modify and manage user profiles, service accounts and security authorisations.
• Administer backup, recovery and BRMS processes, validate backups and support disaster‑recovery testing.
• Manage internal and external storage, tape libraries, media handling and storage optimisation initiatives.
• Configure and maintain jobs, job queues, subsystems and Advanced Job Scheduler.
• Set up printer sessions, LAN/remote printers and output queues, resolving spool issues.
• Administer high‑availability and disaster‑recovery environments, monitor replication and support failover drills.
• Apply PTFs, HIPER fixes and cumulative packages, and support application deployments across i partitions.
• Coordinate with hardware and software vendors for advanced troubleshooting and issue resolution.

Required profile

• 5 to 10 years of hands‑on experience administering AS/400 (IBM iSeries) environments.
• Level‑2 expertise with a proven track record of handling complex escalations.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities in a 24 × 7 operational setting.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external vendors.
