Accountant – Balance Sheet Reconciliation

About the role

The Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely submission for management review. This hybrid position supports process automation and continuous improvement within Assurant's Center of Excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations of varying complexity, ensuring completeness and timely submission.
• Identify, design, and implement automation opportunities across assigned processes.
• Partner with stakeholders to improve scalability, strengthen controls, and reduce manual effort.
• Conduct analytical reviews, investigate variances, and support resolution efforts.
• Monitor financial metrics, support aging analysis, and participate in projects such as system integrations and acquisitions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA preferred) with 3‑5 years of general accounting experience, preferably in insurance.
• Strong understanding of US GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements (SOX, audits).
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deliverables, and meet tight close timelines.
• Experience in a Center of Excellence or similar enterprise environment is a plus.
