Tax Manager

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Tax Manager to join its growing tax team. You will support the full scope of tax work, from income tax and year‑end filings to compliance projects, while taking ownership of the sales tax function.

Key responsibilities

• Partner closely with the tax team, supporting all areas of the tax practice.
• Run point on sales tax: own compliance, filings, nexus reviews, and client questions.
• Prepare and review business and individual income tax returns and year‑end deliverables.
• Manage tax calendars and deadlines across a multi‑client portfolio.
• Communicate clearly with clients and internal accounting teams, translating tax requirements into actionable next steps.
• Help build and improve tax processes, checklists, and documentation as the team grows.
• Stay current on federal, state, and local tax changes that affect our clients.

Required profile

• Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in U.S. tax preparation and review, especially income tax and year‑end work.
• Highly organized and able to juggle multiple clients and deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proactive and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
