Senior Software Engineer - AI

About the role

Newfold Digital is seeking a hands‑on Senior Applied AI Engineer to design and ship production AI experiences across its brands. You will turn ambiguous product problems into reliable, secure, and cost‑efficient AI services that power conversational agents, knowledge bases, content creation, and intelligent automation.

Key responsibilities

• Translate loosely defined product challenges into practical AI solutions using LLMs, RAG, tool‑calling agents, or deterministic workflows.
• Design, build, and operate production AI services with Python, FastAPI, asynchronous workers, PostgreSQL, Redis, and messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ, Kafka or Azure Service Bus.
• Develop and improve RAG pipelines, including ingestion, chunking, embeddings, hybrid retrieval, reranking, and citation handling.
• Create AI evaluation pipelines, diagnose hallucinations, retrieval failures, latency issues, and manage inference costs.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend, distributed or cloud‑based systems.
• Hands‑on experience delivering applied AI, LLM, RAG, NLP or agent‑based applications in production.
• Strong understanding of prompting, structured outputs, tool schemas, context management, and model routing.

Required skills

• Advanced Python (FastAPI, async, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy/SQLModel)
• PostgreSQL, Redis, pgvector or other vector databases
• Message queues: RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus
• LLM integration (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI) and function/tool calling
• RAG system components: embeddings, hybrid retrieval, reranking
• Docker, CI/CD, observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Langfuse)
