Senior Field Engineer – Systems Design & Implementation

About the role

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to provide high‑level technical expertise throughout the post‑sales lifecycle of mission‑critical communication systems. The role involves designing, installing, commissioning, and maintaining large‑scale radio and infrastructure solutions for customers in Buenos Aires and surrounding regions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee deployment and configuration of core radio and infrastructure systems, ensuring reliability and compliance with performance specifications.
• Define system specifications, server infrastructure, capacity planning, and networking protocols (IP/RF).
• Conduct site surveys, manage tower and shelter requirements, and execute complex RF/Microwave link installations.
• Develop technical, tactical, and strategic plans, provide feasibility assessments, and ensure Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) compliance.
• Serve as an expert escalation point for field issues and disseminate technical information to internal and customer teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 + years experience with mission‑critical communication systems (e.g., ASTRO 25, TETRA, HF, DMR).
• Fluency in Spanish and English, both written and oral.
• Valid driving license and willingness to travel 25‑50% to remote sites.
• Proactive customer‑service mindset with ability to work autonomously.

Required skills

• RF engineering principles, antenna/cable systems, combiners, multi‑couplers, lightning protection.
• Network protocols: OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, SIP, RTP, SNMP, NAT.
• Server infrastructure: VMware ESXi, Linux, Windows Server, API integration.
• Cybersecurity best practices, encryption, port security, certificate‑based authentication.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, Nokia NRS1, PMP or ITIL are highly valued.
