Psychiatric Liaison Nurse (N3) – Urgent Care

About the role

The Psychiatric Liaison Nurse (N3) works within the Emergency team at Concordia Hospital, providing specialised mental‑health expertise to patients, families and staff in the Urgent Care setting. This role focuses on assessment, care planning, crisis intervention and ongoing support for individuals experiencing psychiatric emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments using a biopsychosocial framework.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in crisis.
• Provide immediate crisis intervention and therapeutic communication to patients and families.
• Offer consultation and support to Emergency Department and Urgent Care nurses.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes in the electronic health record.

Required profile

• Minimum of three years recent acute mental‑health nursing experience.
• Previous experience in an Emergency Department is preferred.
• Demonstrated competence in psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention and therapeutic communication.
• Knowledge of co‑occurring disorders and ability to work within a biopsychosocial model.
