Payroll Manager US & Canada

About the role

Varicent is seeking a hands‑on Payroll Manager to lead end‑to‑end payroll execution for the United States and Canada while supporting global payroll operations. Reporting to the Senior Director of People Operations, the role combines operational execution with compliance oversight across multiple regions.

Key responsibilities

• Personally execute end‑to‑end payroll processing for US and Canada, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Process payroll cycles for additional regions (EMEA, LATAM, APAC) and support global year‑end activities, tax filings, and reporting.
• Administer North American benefits (health, dental, disability, life, retirement, wellness, leaves) and coordinate international benefits with global vendors.
• Maintain accurate benefits data across payroll, HRIS, and vendor systems.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and international payroll legislation; support audits and internal controls.
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates to payroll and benefits processes.
• Serve as escalation point for payroll and benefits inquiries, providing employee support.

Required profile

• Extensive hands‑on experience processing payroll in the United States and Canada.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple payroll cycles simultaneously.
• Knowledge of North American benefits administration and international benefits coordination.
• Understanding of payroll legislation and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
• Proactive problem‑solver comfortable acting as an escalation point for employees.
