Legal Officer – Corporate & Infrastructure Division

About the role

IDB Invest, the private‑sector arm of the Inter‑American Development Bank Group, is seeking a Legal Officer for its Corporate and Infrastructure Legal Division. The role supports non‑sovereign guaranteed (NSG) operations across the full transaction cycle, from origination to post‑deal management, within the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on origination, eligibility, due diligence, structuring, drafting, negotiation, documentation, closing and disbursement of NSG lending, guarantees and technical cooperation activities.
• Advise on moderate to complex portfolio administration matters, including amendments, waivers, restructurings, workouts and litigation of impaired assets.
• Coordinate with Investment Officers, Credit Risk, ESG, and Portfolio Management teams to ensure efficient deal execution and post‑deal monitoring.
• Support the drafting and regular updating of model financing documentation.
• Identify creative legal solutions for complex NSG operations and collaborate with attorneys from other multilateral development institutions.

Required profile

• Law degree with a strong background in finance, infrastructure, or corporate law.
• Experience handling complex financing transactions, guarantees, and technical cooperation agreements.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with investment, risk, ESG and portfolio teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail.

Required skills
