Lead Backend Engineer – Fintech BNPL Platform

About the role

This role leads the backend engineering squad of a BNPL platform focused on financial inclusion in Venezuela. You will shape the architecture, drive technical excellence, and ensure the reliability and scalability of core services.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the engineering lead within a squad, guiding architectural decisions and technical execution.
• Collaborate with frontend leads to ensure seamless integration between backend and frontend services.
• Own the design and scalability of backend services using Node.js and NestJS.
• Drive technical innovation by researching and adopting new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
• Ensure system reliability through testing, monitoring, and logging strategies.
• Mentor and coach backend developers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Oversee deployments, production operations, and incident resolution to maintain high availability.

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend development experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or technical lead role.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with excellent communication skills.
• Proven experience delivering high‑performance, scalable services in fast‑paced startup environments.
• Fluency in Spanish and English.
