Kitchen Staff Substitute

About the role

We are looking for a flexible Kitchen Staff Substitute to support our food service operations on an as‑needed basis. The role involves preparing, cooking, and serving meals while maintaining high standards of safety, hygiene and presentation across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and stock serving lines daily, ensuring food is held at required temperatures.
• Prepare menu items, baked goods and batch‑cook meals according to Opaa! recipes.
• Operate slicers, mixers, grinders and other certified equipment safely.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, including kitchen, cafeteria and dishwashing stations.
• Manage inventory using FIFO procedures and keep cooler/storage areas tidy.
• Record temperatures, complete HACCP logs and adhere to HHFKA and CACFP regulations.
• Handle customer monies, make change and operate cash registers when required.
• Assist with serving portions, restocking condiments and ensuring attractive presentation.

Required profile

• Ability to perform essential kitchen functions on a flexible schedule.
• Commitment to food safety, sanitation and compliance with safety manuals.
• Willingness to attend required trainings, meetings and safety programs.

Required skills

• Operation of slicers, mixers and grinders with proper certification.
• Food safety knowledge (HACCP, temperature monitoring, HHFKA/CACFP).
• Inventory control using FIFO and stock organization.
• Cash handling and basic point‑of‑sale operation.
