Controller – Remote Accounting Lead

About the role

We are a fast‑growing private youth sports operator in the GTA seeking a detail‑oriented Controller to own our accounting function end‑to‑end. You will manage daily bookkeeping, financial reporting, and internal controls while supporting strategic decisions across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full‑cycle bookkeeping including AP, AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.
• Manage semi‑monthly payroll using Wagepoint and Square.
• Apply HST and Input Tax Credit rules for accurate tax filings.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash‑flow statements.
• Develop and maintain internal controls to ensure GAAP compliance and coordinate audits and regulatory reporting.
• Prepare budget‑to‑actual variance analyses and support budgeting and forecasting.
• Collaborate with the CFO and department leaders to streamline accounting processes.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with full‑cycle accounting in a remote or distributed team environment.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
• High degree of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
