Principal macOS Systems & Security Engineer (Swift/Objective-C/C++)

About the role

Darwoft, a Latin American technology company building custom software for international partners, is hiring a Principal macOS Systems & Security Engineer for a remote, full-time contractor position anywhere in LATAM. The project focuses on identity assurance, authentication and enterprise endpoint security. This is not a traditional macOS app development role: you will design and evolve security-sensitive components close to the operating system, working as a senior individual contributor who influences architecture and collaborates with Engineering, Security, Product and other technical stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and evolve low-level macOS software components
• Develop functionality for authentication, identity and endpoint protection
• Use native macOS technologies such as XPC, Launch Agents, Launch Daemons, Keychain, Authorization Services and System Extensions
• Build privileged services and secure communication between application and system components
• Integrate with the Apple Endpoint Security Framework and other native security mechanisms
• Write software in Swift, Objective-C, C and C++ depending on the component
• Implement authentication and credential capabilities using FIDO2, WebAuthn, Passkeys, PAM, CryptoTokenKit and certificate management
• Apply secure coding and cryptographic principles to authentication and identity workflows
• Troubleshoot production issues with logs, diagnostics and debugging tools
• Handle installers, code signing, entitlements, permissions, upgrades and enterprise distribution
• Contribute to architecture, technical standards and research new Apple APIs and security mechanisms
• Mentor engineers and guide complex platform-level problems
• Collaborate with backend and platform teams on REST APIs, HTTP/HTTPS and network protocols
