Principal macOS Systems & Security Engineer

About the role

Darwoft is seeking a Principal macOS Systems & Security Engineer to work on a high‑impact cybersecurity project for a U.S. client. This remote, full‑time contractor position focuses on building low‑level, security‑critical software that integrates deeply with macOS.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain system‑level components on macOS, including privileged services, launch agents/daemons, and system extensions.
• Implement authentication, credential‑management, and endpoint‑protection features using Swift, Objective‑C, C, and C++.
• Ensure secure communication between application and privileged components, applying cryptographic best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform system‑level analysis, and guarantee compatibility across macOS versions.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with macOS or systems‑level development.
• Deep knowledge of macOS internals, security architecture, and privileged operations.
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and architectural decision‑making abilities.
• Advanced English communication skills (B2/C1).

• XPC, Launch Agents, Launch Daemons, Keychain Services, Authorization Services.
• FIDO2, WebAuthn, passkeys, PAM, CryptoTokenKit.
• Apple Endpoint Security Framework, macOS System Extensions.
• Applied cryptography (RSA, ECC, Diffie‑Hellman, AES) and secure coding practices.
