Mechanic I

About the role

The Steam/Gas Mechanic is responsible for safely installing, maintaining, and repairing heavy rotating machinery used in power generation. The role works closely with supervisors, EHS personnel, and operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Dismantle, assemble, move, and align machinery using hoists, cranes, and precision tools.
• Read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to determine proper procedures.
• Perform material and machine inspections with micrometers, calipers, and torque wrenches.
• Conduct machining and welding operations for parts fabrication.
• Manage shipping, receiving, inventory, and tool control for major equipment.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience with machinery installation, maintenance, and dismantling.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hoists, cranes, chain falls, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Precision measuring using micrometers, calipers, protractors, and torque wrenches.
• Machining and welding capabilities.
• Knowledge of bolting, hydraulic bolting, flange management, small bore piping, basic rigging/lifting, and overhead crane operation.
