Computer Vision / AI Systems Engineer

About the role

Wakapi is looking for a Computer Vision / AI Systems Engineer to design, build, and deploy production‑grade AI vision systems. You will work on real‑time image and video streams, creating end‑to‑end pipelines that extract attributes and intelligence for various applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, train, and fine‑tune state‑of‑the‑art vision models (YOLO variants, DETR, Vision Transformers) for object detection, classification, and attribute extraction.
• Build low‑latency ingestion and processing pipelines for high‑throughput video streams (RTSP, WebRTC, frame decoding).
• Develop end‑to‑end workflows for License Plate Recognition, OCR, and multi‑object tracking.
• Optimize models for cloud (Kubernetes/GCP) and edge deployment using TensorRT, ONNX, or OpenVINO.
• Curate and augment visual datasets, establishing automated model retraining loops and evaluation frameworks.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience designing and deploying computer vision and deep learning models in production.
• Deep expertise with modern object detection architectures such as YOLO, DETR, Faster R‑CNN, and Vision Transformers.
• Proven experience with video stream ingestion, frame processing, and low‑latency inference pipelines.
• Experience in License Plate Recognition, OCR, or fine‑grained attribute inference systems.
