Medical Device Reprocessing Technician

About the role

The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible for ensuring that surgical instruments, respiratory equipment and other patient‑care devices are safely cleaned, assembled and sterilized in accordance with infection‑control standards.

Key responsibilities

• Disassemble and decontaminate surgical instruments, respiratory equipment and other patient‑care devices following departmental procedures and infection‑control policies.
• Assemble, inspect, package and sterilize instruments, equipment and surgical linens according to established protocols.
• Perform cleaning duties using aseptic technique and transport supplies between the MDR department, operating rooms and the emergency‑trauma area.
• Participate actively in the department’s quality‑improvement programs and activities.

Required profile

• Current experience in Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR).
• Grade 12 or equivalent education.
• Successful completion of a recognized CRCST program with appropriate certification.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow strict infection‑control guidelines.

Required skills

• Knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
