Legal Counsel – Payments & Commercial

About the role

J.P. Morgan Payments is seeking a Legal Counsel focused on Payments and Commercial matters. Based in Buenos Aires, you will join a global legal team of about 100 lawyers, supporting the delivery of payment solutions to a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate commercial agreements with J.P. Morgan’s customers across regions.
• Collaborate with product counsel to draft, maintain, and update agreement templates and playbooks.
• Review consumer‑facing documentation for clarity, legal compliance, and regulatory adherence.
• Provide legal support to sales, client service, and other internal teams.
• Contribute to projects that improve operational processes, enhancing efficiency and scalability of commercial legal support.
• Participate in product initiatives and cross‑team projects within the broader Legal department.

Required profile

• Law degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience in corporate, commercial, regulatory or litigation matters.
• Strong decision‑making ability, practical business judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, able to prioritize multiple deals under tight deadlines.
• Creative problem‑solving mindset with ownership of tasks.
• Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to continuously learn.
