Assistant Director Data Engineer / Solution Architect

About the role

As an Assistant Director Data Engineer / Solution Architect, you will partner with business, reporting, and technical teams to translate requirements into scalable data solutions. You will design pipelines, build Power BI dashboards, and ensure high‑performance analytics that drive decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SQL‑based transformations.
• Architect end‑to‑end data solutions that meet business and performance goals.
• Build, enhance, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards with a focus on usability and performance.
• Diagnose, debug, and optimise slow‑running data processes and analytics queries.
• Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance throughout pipelines.
• Implement DevOps best practices to automate testing, deployment, and monitoring of data pipelines and BI assets.
• Use Python for scripting, automation, and integration of cloud data workflows.
• Create technical documentation, data models, and architecture diagrams.
• Stay current with cloud data technology advancements and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering and BI solution development.
• Strong expertise in Azure Data Factory (linked services, datasets, pipelines, triggers).
• Expert‑level SQL skills, including complex query design, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, report design, performance tuning).
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts, ELT/ETL strategies, and data architecture best practices.
• Experience debugging data flows, diagnosing bottlenecks, and improving end‑to‑end performance.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
• Experience with DevOps tools and CI/CD workflows (Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Passion for clean code and continuous improvement.
