Senior Backend Engineer – AI & Data Platform

About the role

We are seeking a senior backend engineer to lead the development of a cutting‑edge data platform for life‑science companies such as Pfizer, Moderna and Novartis. The role combines backend engineering, cloud architecture and AI‑driven MLOps to deliver scalable, secure services on AWS and Databricks.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical architecture, driving discussions across engineering, product and data teams.
• Design, build and optimise high‑performance data pipelines, asynchronous workflows and service‑to‑service integrations.
• Implement comprehensive observability – monitoring, metrics, tracing, logging and cost attribution.
• Develop robust data ingestion mechanisms from diverse sources into operational and analytical stores.
• Participate in daily Scrum ceremonies with a globally distributed team.

Required profile

• 5+ years of production backend engineering experience.
• Strong expertise in AWS cloud services and Databricks/MLOps ecosystem.
• Proven ability to write clean, testable, maintainable code in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Experience with security, authentication (JWT) and multi‑tenant architectures.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and cloud‑native deployments.
