Patent Counsel – Global IP Strategy for Digital Pathology

About the role

AIDigpatho seeks a Patent Counsel to lead its global intellectual property strategy for a novel digital pathology platform that quantifies breast cancer biomarkers. The role focuses on protecting software‑implemented medical methods and diagnostic device innovations across major markets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a worldwide patent filing strategy, including USPTO, EPO, and PCT applications.
• Manage national‑phase coordination in the US, EU, and at least two emerging markets.
• Address §101 and Art.52 EPC challenges specific to software‑based medical methods.
• Conduct freedom‑to‑operate analyses against competitors such as PathAI, Paige, Visiopharm, and Aiforia.
• Provide ongoing IP advice to product, engineering, and regulatory teams.

Required profile

• Registered practitioner before the USPTO (EPO registration is a plus).
• Proven track record in medical imaging or diagnostic device patent prosecution.
• Hands‑on experience with §101 and Art.52 EPC challenges on software‑implemented medical methods.
• Demonstrated ability to design and manage PCT strategies and national‑phase filings.
• Experience conducting freedom‑to‑operate assessments in the digital pathology landscape.
