Teacher Assistant – Refugee Success Coach

About the role

The Teacher Assistant – Refugee Success Coach supports classroom instruction and provides targeted assistance to refugee students both inside and outside the classroom. Working under the supervision of the principal or designated supervisor, the assistant helps bridge school resources with family needs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and organize class materials and resources.
• Assist with correcting and recording student assignments.
• Support refugee students with general coursework and language needs.
• Connect students and families to community resources and services.
• Collaborate closely with family advocates to strengthen school‑family partnerships.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of post‑secondary education (approximately 48 semester hours), an associate’s degree, or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para‑Professional Test.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Basic secretarial/clerical skills and proficiency with a computer.

Required skills

• Part‑time position (3.5 hours per day) for a 9‑month school year.
• Hourly wage of $17.24 (Salary Grade 3).
