Staff Software Engineer – Identity Management (Go/Golang)

About the role

Canonical is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of identity and access management solutions across its enterprise products and web services. The role is fully remote, supporting teams in EMEA and the Americas, and involves modernising the authentication stack for Ubuntu‑related sites.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain web service APIs for CLI and web front‑ends using Go (Golang) and Python.
• Develop and enhance authentication, authorization and management API endpoints.
• Write Juju charms (operators) to handle operational concerns and drive adoption of best‑of‑breed IAM technologies.
• Collaborate with a distributed team, lead technical discussions, review code and set quality standards.
• Travel 2‑4 weeks per year for internal and external events.

Required profile

• Staff‑level or senior software engineer with proven experience building identity and access management products.
• Familiarity with open‑source IAM standards and protocols such as OpenID, OAuth and LDAP.
• Strong focus on secure coding practices and quality engineering.
• Comfortable working on Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
• Excellent English communication and presentation skills.
