Senior Software Engineer – Identity

About the role

The Identity team at Scribd builds secure, reliable authentication services that power millions of daily login and sign‑up requests. As a Senior Software Engineer you will start by delivering self‑service flows that reduce support load, then move on to core identity roadmap projects such as passwordless login, session management and fraud detection.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement self‑service account recovery and cancellation flows to lower Customer Support volume.
• Build and enhance core identity features including authentication, session management, MFA and passkey support.
• Integrate risk‑based fraud detection and other security measures to protect user data.
• Develop GDPR‑compliant data retention and deletion workflows.
• Collaborate with product, security and legal teams, and participate in the on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong written communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote‑first environment.
• Comfortable owning end‑to‑end code, explaining design decisions and defending them.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation (approximately one week every three weeks).
• Good overlap with EST working hours (09:00–13:00 EST) and fluency with AI‑assisted development tools.
