Senior Security Engineer, Detection & Response

About the role

Sezzle is seeking a hands‑on Senior Security Engineer to lead detection, incident response, and vulnerability management across its cloud infrastructure and applications. You will work within the SIEM/XDR team, building detection rules, tuning alerts, and driving investigations to ensure sensitive data access is fully attributable.

Key responsibilities

• Build, operate, and mature SIEM/XDR capabilities, including log ingestion, detection rule development, alert tuning, and investigation workflows.
• Design detection strategies for suspicious activity and extend audit coverage across Kubernetes, databases, SSO, and access‑path telemetry.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive long‑term remediation.
• Run proactive threat hunts and develop repeatable, AI‑assisted hunting workflows.
• Operate vulnerability management end‑to‑end, validate findings, and coordinate remediation with engineering teams.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience in security, software, or infrastructure engineering with hands‑on cloud security experience.
• Proven experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Wazuh, Splunk, ELK) and designing detection rules.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Linux, and Kubernetes security architecture.
• Experience with vulnerability management, bug‑bounty triage, and compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, SOC 2).
