Senior Data Scientist (Statistical Modeling)

About the role

Software Mind is looking for a Senior Data Scientist with deep expertise in probabilistic AI and statistical machine learning to support a client’s e‑commerce platform. You will design, validate and guide the production of Bayesian and other statistical models for pricing, shipping, recommendations and segmentation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Bayesian models, Markov chains, Hidden Markov Models and mixture models for decision‑making under uncertainty.
• Apply MCMC and Metropolis‑Hastings sampling, and use Expectation‑Maximization for latent‑variable estimation.
• Collaborate with solution architects, the client’s CTO and engineering team to align model design with platform architecture.
• Guide backend engineers on API design, data contracts and integration of statistical models into micro‑services and event‑driven pipelines.
• Define model lifecycle management including training, validation, versioning, monitoring and drift detection.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience with strong communication skills in English (B2 or higher).
• Proven ability to discuss business impact and technical trade‑offs with technical and executive stakeholders.
• Experience designing statistical models for production deployment, preferably in e‑commerce or retail domains.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or R.
• Experience with probabilistic libraries such as PyMC or Stan.
• Familiarity with scikit‑learn, NumPy and SciPy for model development and validation.
• Understanding of version control (Git) and CI/CD practices.
