Robotics Engineer – Remote

About the role

Rex.zone is looking for a Robotics Engineer to design, build, and validate software components that power modern autonomous systems. You will work remotely, collaborating with perception, localization, planning, and control teams to deliver safe, reliable robot behaviours through rigorous testing and data‑driven evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain features across perception, SLAM, planning, and control modules.
• Build and tune VIO/LiDAR SLAM pipelines and manage map lifecycle strategies.
• Develop motion‑planning (trajectory generation, collision checking) and control (PID/MPC) algorithms.
• Integrate sensor stacks (camera, LiDAR, IMU, wheel odometry) and create sensor‑fusion pipelines.
• Establish simulation‑first workflows using Gazebo, Isaac, or Unity and validate against real‑world logs.
• Define QA gates, unit/integration tests, scenario libraries, benchmarks, and dashboards.
• Analyze failures through logs, playback, and root‑cause analysis, proposing fixes and preventive checks.
• Specify data‑collection and labeling requirements for perception models and ensure compliance with annotation guidelines.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience shipping robotics software at production or large‑scale pilot level.
• Strong C++ and Python programming skills.
• Familiarity with ROS/ROS2 concepts (nodes, messages, TF, navigation).
• Practical knowledge of SLAM, sensor fusion, or computer‑vision pipelines.
• Understanding of motion planning and control fundamentals for mobile robots or manipulators.
• Experience building evaluation metrics, test harnesses, and CI pipelines for robotics.
• Clear communication and effective collaboration in a remote‑first environment.
